IPL, also known as Skin Rejuvenation or photofacial, is
a cosmetic procedure that is designed to address a
variety of skin conditions, such as fine lines,
wrinkles, rosacea- prone skin, large pores, and pigmented
spots, all of which can be treated using intense pulsed
light (IPL) therapy. Skin conditions caused by genetic
predisposition, aging, sun exposure, and other toxic
environmental factors can be treated with IPL.
IPL treatments will leave the skin with a clear,
glowing, and youthful appearance.
IPL is one of the most effective non-invasive
anti-aging treatments available today. IPL can be done
on the face, neck, décolleté, hands, arms, legs; pretty much anywhere you want to rejuvenate the skin for a
smooth even tone, leaving you looking more youthful.
IPL can erase skin damage and treat a variety
of skin conditions, such as:
• Uneven Skin Tone
• Age Spots
• Rosacea-prone skin
• Broken Capillaries
• Sun Damage
• Wrinkles and Fine Lines
What Is IPL?
IPL is a procedure in which Intense Pulses
of Light are used to penetrate deep
into the skin, causing collagen and blood vessels below
the epidermis to constrict. This allows new connective
tissues to form under the skin, creating a more smooth
even effect on the surface. The procedure has minimal
discomfort, and the benefits of an IPL occur gradually
in the weeks following treatment.
Who is an ideal candidate for the IPL
If your skin has discolored, uneven skin tone, or fine
lines and wrinkles, an IPL can smooth and refine your
What is the down time with IPL?
IPL involves very little discomfort and no downtime.
This procedure is non-ablative. After treatment the skin
may look a little flushed which will soon fade away
leaving the skin looking younger and rejuvenated.
How does IPL work?
Using the advanced non-laser Intense
technology, The Elos® medical system delivers precise
amounts of light energy through the skin’s surface to
stimulate the production of collagen. As the new
collagen forms, it softens the appearance of aging skin.
Fine lines and wrinkles are decreased and the redness
associated with rosacea can be dramatically reduced. IPL
treatments restore a more youthful appearance and
improve skin texture without any downtime, allowing you
to return to work or leisure activities immediately.
How often do I need IPL Photofacial treatment?
At Seattle’s Beautiful Skin, we recommend a package of
4-6 sessions 3-5 weeks apart.
To maintain your new healthy overall appearance, we
recommend 2-4 touch ups per calendar year, depending on
your individual skin needs.
